Working with HALT-C

Overview

Below is an outline of general steps to take to work with the HALT-C Trial

  1. Find out if your proposal overlaps with current ancillary studies
  2. Find and speak to a HALT-C PI or contact Dr. James Everhart at NIDDK if you need assistance finding a HALT-C PI to collaborate with.
  3. Contact the DCC for sample availability, statistical analysis and costs. (Details provided below)
  4. Write the Ancillary Studies proposal using the HALT-C Ancillary Studies Template (Word Document)
  5. Submit protocol to DCC
  6. Obtain approval from the HALT-C Ancillary Studies Committee
  7. Obtain approval from the HALT-C Steering Committee
  8. Receive funding
  9. Complete a data use agreement if applicable (only if statistical analyses will be done outside the DCC)

Working with the DCC

New England Research Institutes (NERI) is the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for the HALT-C Trial. The HALT-C specimen repository, SeraCare BioServices, is under subcontract to NERI. You will need to work with NERI to determine specimen availability at the time-points in which you are interested. You may also consult with NERI regarding statistical methods for your proposal and costs to pull and ship specimens. NERI has statisticians who can perform statistical analyses for your study, or you may have statisticians at your institution perform analyses using datasets prepared by NERI. You will need to work with NERI to estimate the costs associated with the proposed tasks.
