Utility of the SCCA-lgM biomarker for HCV-related HCC:

Hypotheses/Aims

The aim of the study is addressed to explore the behavior over time of the biomarker SCCA-1gM in serial serum samples of cirrhotic patients in relation to HCC development or disease progression, including cirrhosis complications.

The reference samples will explore the usefulness of the SCCA-1gM biomarker as:

1. Prognostic biomarker of fibrosis progression in patients with chronic hepatitis C
2. Prognostic biomarker of HCC progression in patients with cirrhosis
3. Diagnostic biomarker of HCC.
